Plugin DRM has a bad reputation, and it has earned it: too many paid plugins will brick a server the moment they cannot reach a licence server. ProtonAuctions is deliberately not one of those. Its licence system is built to be tough on people cracking the plugin and gentle on you.
Two ideas sit at its heart:
- Your data is never held hostage. The key that encrypts your auctions belongs to your installation, not your licence. Whatever happens with a licence, your data stays readable and is never locked, altered, or deleted.
- A blip never takes you down. The licence is checked once at startup, and if the licence server cannot be reached, the plugin keeps running for days on a signed proof it saved earlier. A hiccup in your host's network is not your problem.
