Recommendations
A few choices to get right early. None are required, but they save trouble later.
| Recommendation | Why it matters | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Back up proton.lock | It is the key that encrypts your auction data, tied to this install. Lose it and the encrypted rows can no longer be read. It is not your licence. | Back up plugins/ProtonAuctions/proton.lock together with your world. See The Installation Key. |
| Choose your database before going live | Moving from SQLite to a shared database later means migrating real data. | Single server, stay on SQLite. Network, set up a shared MySQL, MariaDB or PostgreSQL database, and Redis, from the start. |
| Let the engine warm up | The pricing engine learns from your real trades and stays quiet until it has enough. | Leave it on and expect around 24 hours, plus some sales, before /ah suggest returns prices. |
| Test Currency Autopilot before opening | It checks an unknown economy plugin with a small live deposit and withdrawal. | It is off by default. If you enable Autopilot, confirm a few transactions on a test player first. |
| Enable Barter if you want item trades | Item-for-item trading is off until you turn it on. | Set barterSettings.enabled: true. See Barter. |
