Do I have to use Redis, or can I just share a database?

You can share a database without Redis, and every server will read the same listings, but they will not update each other live. A listing sold on one server could linger on another server's grid until that grid refreshes on its own. Redis is what makes the auction house update instantly everywhere, so for a real network it is strongly recommended.

Can I sync servers on SQLite?

No. SQLite is a single file on one machine, so there is nothing to share between servers. A synced network needs MySQL, MariaDB, or PostgreSQL. See Requirements.

What happens if Redis goes down?

Trades keep working, because the data is safe in the shared database. What you lose while Redis is unreachable is the instant updates: a server may show a slightly stale grid until it refreshes. When Redis comes back, everything catches up.

Do all my servers need the same config?

They need to point at the same database and the same Redis, with matching database and redis settings, and they must share the same proton.lock so they can all read the encrypted data. Beyond that, each server can keep its own menus, categories and other local settings.

Is one server the master?

No. There is no master server. Every server reads and writes the same shared database as an equal, and Redis keeps them all in step. You can add or remove servers freely.
