Setup

Follow these in order. If a step does not go as described, the troubleshooting table at the end covers the common causes.

   Stop your server

   Shut the server down fully. Never add plugins to a running server.

   Install Vault

   Place a Vault jar in your server's plugins/ folder. Vault is how ProtonAuctions moves money, and the plugin will not start without it. On Folia, use a Folia-safe build such as VaultUnlocked instead, because the standard Vault crashes on Folia.

   Install an economy provider

   Vault on its own holds no money, so you also need a plugin that gives players a balance, such as EssentialsX or CMI. Place that in plugins/ too. If your server already runs one, you are covered.

4. 4

   Add ProtonAuctions

   Place the ProtonAuctions jar in plugins/, next to the others. Do not unzip it or rename it.

   Start the server

   Start it up. On the first run ProtonAuctions creates the plugins/ProtonAuctions/ folder, writes its default config.yml, prepares its database, and validates its licence. Watch the console until it reports that the auction system is ready. The beta is free and the key comes with your download, so nothing needs entering.

   Check it works

   Join the server and run /ah. The auction house menu should open. Hold any item and run /ah sell 100, which lists it for 100. If the menu opens and the item lists, you are done. Every command is on Commands, and every setting on Configuration.

Troubleshooting

Symptom	Likely cause	Fix
ProtonAuctions does not enable and the console mentions Vault	Vault is missing, or on Folia you are running the standard Vault	Install Vault, and on Folia use a Folia-safe build such as VaultUnlocked.
Players cannot list items, or listing reports an economy error	No economy provider is registered through Vault	Install an economy plugin such as EssentialsX or CMI.
Actions report that the auction house is currently disabled	The licence did not validate	Make sure the server can reach the internet, then restart. See Integrity & Licensing.
A price shows a fallback symbol instead of your currency	The plugin for that currency is not installed	Install the plugin for that currency, or remove it from currencies.yml. See Currencies.
