Before a completed sale teaches the engine anything, it is weighted by a trust score: how much that particular trade can be believed. A normal trade counts as 1, a trusted one counts for more, and a suspicious one counts for little or nothing. This is what stops a handful of fake trades between alt accounts from dragging your prices around.

The score is built from signals the server already knows about the two players, and it always uses the less-trusted of the two.

Trades that count for nothing

Some trades are thrown out entirely, with a weight of zero:

  • Either party is blacklisted.
  • The trade is flagged suspicious, admin-reversed, or refunded.
  • During the server's first 48 hours, a trade where either side has no prior history at all.

What lowers a trade's weight

SignalEffect
Very low playtimeDown to as little as one-tenth weight for near-zero playtime.
Shared IP address (one side)Cut to 40%. Both sides on one connection, cut further.
A brand-new account (under 7 days)Cut to 60%.

What raises it

SignalEffect
An established account (over 30 days)Raised by 20%.
Heavy playtime (over roughly 100 hours)Raised by half.
A seasoned trader (10+, or 50+, past trades)Raised 10%, or 30%. Sales brought over by a migration count as past trades. Money a player is paid by another player never does, so an alt cannot build trust by being paid.
An admin-verified tradeRaised by half.

A trade's weight is capped at double, so no single signal runs away with it.

Trades that never reach pricing

Some trades are kept out of prices altogether, whatever their weight:

  • Sales by a banned player, while economyEngine.training.ignoreBannedPlayers is on, the default. They come back if the ban is lifted.
  • Sales in a currency with no exchange rate yet. See Multi-Currency.
  • Trades with a server shop, which set price limits instead. See How Hooks Work.
  • Money sent between players, which only feeds fraud detection.

The first 48 hours

On a brand-new server the engine relaxes these thresholds for its first 48 hours, so real early trades are not all treated as untrustworthy, while still throwing out trades where a party has no history. This bootstrap window works alongside the warmup.

Trust weighting runs automatically and has no settings to tune. The signals come from each player's playtime, account age, shared-connection status and past trade count, all read locally. See Training On Your Server for where the trusted trades feed the models.
