Barter is a currency-free corner of the auction house. Instead of setting a price, a player puts an item up and trades it for whatever items other players offer in return.

How a trade happens

  1. A seller lists an item for barter, and can name the items they would like in return.
  2. Other players open the listing and offer their own items for it.
  3. The seller reviews the offers and accepts the one they want. The listed item goes to that player, their offered items go to the seller, and every other offer is handed straight back.

Everything is held safely

From the moment an item is listed or offered, it is held in secure escrow, not left in an inventory to be spent twice. If a listing is cancelled, an offer withdrawn or rejected, or anything expires, the items are returned to their owner through the Claim Bin. Nothing is ever lost in a trade that does not go through.

Turning it on

Barter ships off, so it never clutters a server that does not want it. Switch it on, along with its limits and expiry settings, under barterSettings in config.yml.

Switching it off again later closes every open barter listing. The listed items go back to their owners and the offered items to their offerers, all through the Claim Bin, and each player is told.

In the pointer menus

With the pointer menus on, trades have screens of their own, for viewing a trade, building an offer from your inventory and answering the offers on your own trades. See Using the Menus.
