An item claim is an item owed to a player and waiting in the bin. Collect it from the claim screen, or let it arrive on join when item auto-claim is enabled.

When an item is held

  • A purchase or won auction, when item delivery is set to hold the item rather than place it straight into the inventory. See Buying & Selling.
  • A listing the seller cancels, or a listing that expires with no buyer. The item goes back to the seller as a claim.
  • A barter trade. Accepted items arrive as claims, and items from a rejected, withdrawn or expired offer, or an expired listing, return to their owner the same way.
  • A direct hand-over that cannot finish because the inventory is full.
  • A barter listing closed because barter was switched off. The listed item returns to its seller, and the items offered on it return to their offerers.

Full inventories

When an item is delivered directly and there is no room, the default is to keep it in the bin so it is never lost. The inventoryFullBehavior setting can change this to DROP, which drops the item at the player instead. The buyer is told the item was dropped at their feet, and if they left before it could be dropped, it stays in the bin instead.

Expiry

Item claims can be set to expire so the bin does not grow without bound. Expiry runs only when it is switched on. When a claim expires, onItemClaimExpire decides the outcome.

  • With RETURN_TO_SELLER, the default, an unclaimed purchase goes back to its seller as a fresh claim.
  • A claim with no seller to return to is deleted when it expires. That covers the item from a listing that expired unsold, and a purchase that was already given back once.
  • Items from a listing that was cancelled, by its seller or by staff, never expire.
  • With DELETE, every expired claim is removed.

Pending limit

A cap can be placed on how many item claims one player may have waiting. With the limit set to deny, a purchase that would push a buyer past the cap is refused before any money moves, so nothing is lost.

Every delivery and expiry setting is listed in config.yml.
